UPDATE AS OF JULY 2025

In mid-2025 the Syrian border was re-opened and milliions of refugees returned to a shattered homeland. TIAFI, who worked primarily with displaced people and refugees made the difficult decision to close its doors in Turkey and reorganise to work directly in Syria. Once they are re-established and have set up their new home base and programmes we will inform you.

Team International Assistance for Integration - our charity partner in Turkey -- inaugurated a programme called STEP UP last year. It provided physiotherapy, prosthetic limbs and one-to-one online rehabilitation for child amputees in war zones.

Through this scheme, children aged 5-15 could access:

  • An assessment with a qualified physiotherapist

  • One-to-one physiotherapy via zoom

  • A tablet computer for the Zoom sessions with optional internet booster

  • Tailored psycholgical and nutritional advice and information on care of residual limbs

  • Exercise equipment

  • Donated Prostheses
