Physiotherapy

TIAFI

Since 2017, our charity partner, Team International Assistance for Integration (TIAFI), has provided physiotherapy and prosthetic limbs for child war refugees living in Turkey.

In 2024, they inaugurated an online programme called STEP UP, in order to provide assistance for child amputees living in war zones. The programme provided the following:

  • An assessment with a qualified physiotherapist

  • One-to-one physiotherapy via zoom

  • A tablet computer for the Zoom sessions with optional internet booster

  • Tailored psycholgical and nutritional advice and information on care of residual limbs

  • Exercise equipment

  • Donated Prostheses

In mid-2025, the Syrian border re-opened and many refugees began returning to a shattered homeland. We are hearing reports about the situation; many towns and cities are without water or electricity, and it is clear that the reconstruction process is going to take very many years. TIAFI is focusing work where it is most needed - on supporting children with serious war injuries. We will continue giving support wherever we can and will report on new developments and activities in the autumn/winter of 2025.
